Deluxe - Extra information

Our 3 Valley Wine Experience includes the 3 regions in one day. The first winery in Maipú is 20-30 minutes from the city center, then it is another 20-30 minutes to the next winery in Luján de Cuyo, and the last winery in the Uco Valley is about 1 hour and 15 minutes from the previous winery. The way back is 1.5 hours.
Three emblematic wineries will be visited, with lots of top end wines! Where possible, we also include vertical tastings of older vintages, so you can judge the evolution of the wines throughout the years. So yes, it is more driving, on the other hand it is a very complete day with great contrasts. Lunch on this tour is a gourmet lunch of 5 courses paired with elegant wines, and usually an additional exclusive wine from the winery.

Regarding our Icon Wine Tasting Experience, on this tour, we focus on the highly rated wines and hidden gems from one region only, Luján de Cuyo. On this tour, we visit 4 wineries in total, with top end tastings, also including a vertical tasting or tank or barrel tasting, depending on the day and choice of wineries. On this tour we include wineries such as Cobos (if available), Pulenta Estate or Matervini (Santiago Achaval's new project, which specializes in Malbec from unique terroirs). Lunch on this tour is usually at Bodega Lagarde, with an added bottle of an older vintage of their icon wine Henry.

Our deluxe tours also include highly rated wines, but planning wine tours is different from reading a list of wines on Wine Spectator and throwing together those wineries into a tour. We have to take into account logistics and the actual service at the wineries, which can change rapidly depending on their staff (no use if the wines are great but you don't feel welcome, for example).

On our Icon Wine Tasting Experience we visit 4 wineries, where you will sample from 3 to 5 high-end wines, some of them highly scored. Depending on the wineries we also include "thieving tastes" from barrels or tanks so that you can establish the difference between a finished and non-finished product! On this tour we include wineries such as Cobos (if available), Pulenta Estate or Matervini (Santiago Achaval's new project).

On our Past to Present Wine Experience, the concept of "the historic vs. the new" is characteristically distinctive. The idea is that you either start the tour by visiting a very traditional historic winery and then move to more modern ones, and/or include, where possible, vertical tastings, so you can judge the evolution of the wines throughout the years! Three wineries will be visited, where, again, you'll sample from 3 to 4 reserve and top end wines, sometimes 5!

As already stated, you will culminate both experiences with 5/6-course wine pairing lunches at Mendoza's best vineyard restaurants. Another distinction to highlight about our Past to Present wine tour, is that we can choose the lunch at one of the wineries in the Uco Valley, so that you get to visit two regions in one day, again, moving from the more traditional regions to the modern Uco Valley.

As for the payment there are various options:

Brazilians' inquiry about Catena/El Enemigo

We understand that most Brazilians want to visit Catena Zapata / El Enemigo / Norton .... etc.. and it may be a "must" visit for you. These are big wineries and there are several agencies in Mendoza that cater to this market. For example some agencies even offer "El Mundo Catena" tours. Also you can simply make a reservation there yourself or through your hotel and go with a taxi or remis. Our expertise is not required for these wineries, and going with one of our guides would not add much to the experience. Also, we do not provide transport only.
We have a different concept: Our tours focus on boutique wineries, which we consider often provide a superior experience to get an authentic feel of what the Mendoza wine region is all about. Smaller, relatively undiscovered wineries also may provide a more personal service. Top-notch wine quality is of course the first requirement for our winery selection. We recommend our tours for your second or third day of wine tasting in Mendoza, or if this is your second trip to Mendoza and you have already done the "standard" program.

Most of the wineries we visit on our tours are boutique wineries.When we plan our personalized visits and tastings, we pick wineries based on the excellence of their wine, the contrast between tradition and innovation, and the most welcoming service. We do not necessarily always go to the most famous wineries because sometimes the smaller, still relatively undiscovered ones provide a better experience with an authentic feel of Mendoza's wine regions. Whichever winery we take you to, be assured that it is carefully chosen and the quality of the wine and the visits will be of a very high standard.

The winery scene here is very dynamic, it changes constantly. Wineries come and go, wine and service quality goes up and down, chefs open new restaurants and leave after a couple of years ... in short, last year's best winery experience or wine pairing lunch may not be this year's top choice, and vice versa. The whole point of working with a local specialist like us is to take advantage of the know-how that we have on the ground and trust that we will select the best wineries on behalf of our clients.

We work with about 15 different boutique wineries in Luján de Cuyo and we choose 4 for our tours, combining them according to our experience and their availability. For instance, we can visit and taste at Familia Cassone, Mendel, Finca Bandini, Carmine Granata, Terrazas de los Andes, Cruzat, Pulenta Estate, Matervini, Caelum, and have the wine pairing lunch at Lagarde, Finca Decero or Martino Wines. On the other hand, in the Uco Valley, we work with almost 10 different wineries, and this time, we choose 3 in total. From the following group we choose 2 wineries for the visits and tastings: Atamisque, Domaine Bousquet, Piedra Negra, Altus, Familia Zaina, Corazón del Sol. Then, we have the wine pairing lunch, for example, at Diamandes, Monteviejo, Andeluna or Domaine Bousquet if we don't choose it as first winery.
